Estudiantes suffered a heavy blow on their visit to Banfield in round two when they lost 1-0. Gabriel Milito’s men are now only six points above Patronato (who occupy one of the relegation spots) in the points average table. El Pincha, who remain on three points in the league, lost after four games unbeaten among all Superliga competitions (two wins and two draws).
Independiente’s home match against Newell’s Old Boys in week two has been postponed. That means El Rojo is on three points in the league table after beating Defensa y Justicia 1-0 away in the season opener. They won three of their last five domestic matches, drawing one and losing one. Sebastian Beccacece’s men were knocked out of the Copa Sudamericana last Tuesday when losing at Ecuador’s Independiente del Valle 1-0 (2-2 on aggregate).
Independiente will start with a very offensive lineup that includes attacking midfielder Lucas Romero who just arrived from Cruzeiro, so I expect a game with goals here.
