Banfield suffered a heavy blow in the last league round, losing 3-2 at relegation contenders Argentinos Juniors in an entertaining game. As a result, Hernan Crespo’s men managed only three points in as many rounds and are just two points above the bottom three in the respective table. To make matters worse, they succumbed to six defeats in their last ten domestic matches (winning two and drawing two).
Boca Juniors haven’t had any difficulties to beat Aldosivi 2-0 at home last Sunday and the lead could have been even wider. Gustavo Alfaro’s men remain unbeaten this season and have managed seven points from nine available. In fact, they lost only one of the last 16 games in all Superliga competitions (ten victories, five draws). El Xeneize are unbeaten in their last 12 domestic matches on away turf, having won seven and drawn five of them. Last Wednesday they beat Liga de Quito away 3-0 on the Copa Libertadores Quarterfinals and they have one foot in the semifinals.
Terrible defending lately by Banfield as coach Hernan Crespo makes them play attacking football, Boca might rotate some players due to their Copa Libertadores commitments but they still have enough to win this. I have to expect goals here and the low totals line is definitely tempting.
