Banfield earned a valuable point on their visit to Newell’s Old Boys last time out, when drawing 0-0 in Rosario (the hosts were perfect at their own stadium beforehand). However, they must improve: having claimed a single win in the last seven league games (two draws, four defeats), El Taladro accumulate eight points in the league table and are only one point above the relegation zone. To make matters worse, Banfield lost their last three home games. Banfield winger Nicolas Bertolo succumbed to an ankle injury and will miss out , same thing for experienced midfielder Jesus Datolo.
Meanwhile, Atletico Tucuman’s three-game winless run of one draw and two losses in the Superliga came to an end two weeks ago, when they managed to beat Talleres 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Leandro Diaz and Ramiro Carrera. El Decano are producing a sorry campaign so far, with only ten points.
Atletico is not exactly the most reliable team right now but Banfield should suffer not having Bertolo and Datolo, their two most experienced players and key starters in their attack.
