Colon succumbed to their third defeat in the last four Superliga matches (along with a single win), when they were beaten by Velez Sarsfield 3-1 on away turf. El Sabalero’s campaign has been poor so far as they collected only 16 points (with one game in hand). As a result, they are only eight points above the relegation zone. However, Colon won five of their last seven home matches in the Superliga, drawing one and losing one.
Aldosivi remains to occupy one of the relegation places following a 0-0 home stalemate with Independiente in an uneventful game last Sunday. El Tiburon extended their winless run to five matches in the Superliga (earning a single point in that span) and are sitting in the penultimate spot of the league table on nine points. Furthermore, Aldosivi is yet to earn points on away turf in a total of seven matches. Aldosivi midfielder Federico Gino Acevedo reached the yellow-card limit against Independiente and is suspended, as is Gaston Gil Romero after seeing a red card in that game.
Colon is probably not in their best form but Aldosivi is arguably the worst team in the league now and it looks like a great chance for the hosts to end 2019 on a high note.
