Independiente Medellin lost 2-0 at Deportivo Tachira in Venezuela last Tuesday, but they had enough to make it to this second round thanks to a 4-2 win on aggregate. They also were defeated by America Cali 2-0 away on Saturday, when coach Aldo Bobadilla picked an alternative line-up. The team are performing an irregular campaign in the Colombian league, having grabbed seven points in five rounds. However, they are on nine home matches unbeaten in all competitions, winning eight and drawing one.
Atletico Tucuman won on penalties after beating The Strongest 2-0 at home in a thrilling Wednesday night. A few days later, boss Ricardo Zielinski rotated his players and the side ended up losing 2-0 at home to Argentinos Juniors, which means El Decano remains out of the continental spots in the Superliga table with 27 points. The aforementioned win was their only success in the last nine competitive games, along with five draws and three losses. On away turf, Atletico is winless in their last four, drawing two and losing two.
Independiente Medellin is a strong attacking team but they can suffer defensively when they are attacked and I definitely expect at least a couple of goals as it’s usually on their home games.
