England Championship Odds for May 6, 2018

Birmingham vs Fulham

Birmingham host Fulham today in the final day of the championship knowing they will stay up if 2 of Barnsley, Burton and Bolton do not win. Fulham on the other hand are chasing automatic promotion to the Premier League.

However, they know a Cardiff victory vs Reading will mean they will miss out on that and have to try and win promotion via the playoffs. However they also know if Reading win in Cardiff a point would be good enough to go up.

So with that I am going for a Birmingham bet on the +0.75 handicap with the team news slightly favouring the Birmingham blues as well.

Bet: Birmingham +0.75 min odds @ 1.87

Cardiff vs Reading

Cardiff are a victory away from ensuring promotion back to the Premier League, while Reading could still go down if Burton, Barnsley and Birmingham all win. It is an unlikely scenario reading face but stranger things have probably happened (although I can’t think of any).

Regardless, we should see a tense game, close game with Reading trying to keep it tight, knowing a point will see them safe. I just can’t see many goals in this match and happy to go of the Under 2.75, knowing it will take a 4 goal game to lose the full bet.

Bet: Under 2.75 Goals Min odds @ 1.89

Derby County vs Barnsley

Derby host Barnsley knowing that a point will probably seal a playoff spot. Unless Preston beat Burton by at least a 9 goal margin, Barnsley on the other hand are fighting for their life and know they most match Burton’s and Bolton’s results to stay up.

They have not been playing to badly of late even though results have not gone their way and they’re a side who the market tends to like. It is possible that a point will suffice for both sides and I can see another cagey game being played out with an eye on results elsewhere and with Derby knowing a point almost certainly puts them into the playoffs may not be willing to take too many risks if Barnsley can keep it level in the initial stages of the match.

Bet: Barnsley +0.75 Min odds @ 1.95

Preston North End vs Burton Albion

This match and our previous bet of Bansley +0.75 are unlikely both to win but it is also just as fair to say it is less likely both will lose either. If Derby are winning then Preston have no chance, even a draw in the other game does not suit Preston. They need a Barnsley win which is a serious ask.

So with that in mind, Burton who have been excellent of late have a major chance of staying in the division which looked very unlikely only a matter of weeks ago. I am going for Burton with a higher level of motivation, relegation always trumps promotion in the motivation stakes, can take some thing from this match.

Bet: Burton +1 Min odds @ 1.90
