Defensa y Justicia (Argentina) vs Botafogo (Brazil)

Defensa y Justicia was unlucky to suffer a 1-0 away defeat at Botafogo last time out after dominating the game. The team will need to win at home in order to keep their hope alive. Meanwhile, they are living a dream in the Superliga: having claimed six wins in a row (including a 1-0 away success at Gimnasia LP last Saturday), El Halcon are sharing the top of the table with Racing Club on 45 points and they also are the only team who remain unbeaten in Argentinian’s top flight. Defensa won their last four home games.

Botafogo claimed an important 1-0 home win over Defensa y Justicia on February 6th thanks to a goal from Erik in stoppage time. The team haven’t been involved in league action since then as they had failed to advance to the Taca Guanabara semi-finals in spite of winning the last game 3-0 at Boavista earlier this month. Last Wednesday, Botafogo beat fourth-tier side Campinense 2-0 away in the Copa Brasil’s first round to make it three consecutive successes in all competitions.

Even though Botafogo are improving, I still think Defensa have the potential to claim a two-goal lead against them and advance in the Copa Sudamericana.
