River Plate (Argentina) vs Racing Club (Argentina)
River Plate managed an important scoreless draw on their visit to Racing Club three weeks ago as the team had to deal with Leonardo Ponzio’s sending-off in the first half. However, the team are finding trouble to score as they also drew 0-0 all three league matches (the last one with Argentinos Juniors on Saturday). On the other hand, River are on 23 competitive matches without defeat (14 wins, nine draws) since losing at Velez Sarsfield in February. At home, their unbeaten run is on 12 games (having won six of them).
Meanwhile, Racing Club fans will have been disappointed as the team failed to beat River Plate at home. However, the team would advance to the Copa Libertadores’ quarter-finals even earning a draw if they score at least once. Racing are second-placed in the league on seven points (two behind leaders Rosario Central) following a 3-0 away victory over Patronato last Friday. Eduardo Coudet’s men lost just once in their last six away matches, with three victories and two draws in the process.
This game is hard to predict as both sides are tough to beat. I expect a hard-fought game between two interesting sides.
River comes from 4 consecutive 0-0 draws but that was mostly an accident and a bad streak considering they have a very good attack, and striker Ignacio Scocco will be back after recovering from an injury. If anyone scores the game will get a lot more open so I’m going against the logic here and I think there will be goals.
