Boca (Argentina) vs Palmeiras (Brazil)

Boca Juniors winger Cristian Pavon netted a valuable strike in stoppage time to give his team the ticket to semi-finals after a 1-1 away draw at Cruzeiro (3-1 on aggregate). Last Saturday, El Xeneize drew 0-0 with Rosario Central at home to make it three consecutive stalemates in all competitions (and four matches unbeaten). Boca is now fifth-placed in the league table on 15 points, five behind leaders Racing Club. At La Bombonera, they managed four points from six available after losing the Superclasico in late September.

Meanwhile, Palmeiras celebrated a comfortable 2-0 home win over Colo Colo (4-0 on aggregate) with Dudu and Borja scoring to reach the semi-finals without any inconveniences. O Verdao is also at the top of the table in the Brazilian league following a 2-1 victory over Ceara at Allianz Parque last Sunday, which puts them on 62 points, four above second-placed Flamengo. In fact, Palmeiras are on nine competitive games unbeaten (seven triumphs, two draws) having won the last five. On away turf, they haven’t lost any of the last 11, with six victories in that spell.

Two very interesting squads will meet each other at La Bombonera, but I think Palmeiras seem unbeatable at the moment.
