Independiente vs Boca

Independiente’s three-game winning streak in the Superliga has been stopped last Monday when the team played a surprisingly poor performance and returned home empty-handed after a 1-0 defeat at Lanus. That loss means El Rojo remain sitting in the fifth spot of the league table on 22 points. However, they are confident at Libertadores de America Stadium at the moment, having claimed four wins and one draw since losing to Defensa y Justicia 1-0 in late August.

Defending champions Boca Juniors are going back to their usual standards in the league. Two weeks ago, they managed their second consecutive league win by beating Patronato 1-0 at home with an alternative XI. Thanks to that success, El Xeneize are now on 21 points in the league table with a game in hand. Last weekend, the return leg of the Copa Libertadores’ finals at River Plate has been cancelled and they will play next weekend at Madrid. Boca has been unconfident on the road so far, collecting only five points in as many Superliga games.

In spite of their recent slump, Independiente are confident at home and Boca are mostly focusing on the Copa Libertadores but despite this, there’s no denying that Boca still has a big attacking power so I expect an open game with goals.
