Colon hasn’t found any difficulties to recover from their slump at Zulia in Venezuela by beating them 4-0 at home a month ago (4-1 on aggregate). Last Saturday, the team managed a much-needed 2-1 home victory over San Lorenzo to open a three-point gap above the relegation zone. El Sabalero reached seven points in six weeks of league action. The team are on four matches unbeaten in all competitions (two wins and two draws in regular time). At home, Colon hasn’t lost any of their last four games, with three successes and one draw.
Atletico Mineiro also had enough to reach this stage after beating La Equidad from Colombia 5-2 on aggregate (with a 3-1 away win in the return leg three weeks ago). However, they suffered three consecutive defeats since then, having lost to Internacional 3-1 at home last Sunday. As a result, O Galo dropped down to a ninth spot of the Brazilian league table on 27 points, five behind Sao Paulo who occupy the last Copa Libertadores berth. Atletico Mineiro won only one of their last five away games, drawing one and losing three.
Colon is improving at home while Atletico Mineiro is going through a difficult run and suffer important absences. Home win.
