Bragantino vs Talleres
Red Bull Bragantino succumbed to a heavy blow last Wednesday, when they lost 3-0 at Emelec. As a result, they are second-placed in group G on three points, trailing their last opponents by three. On Sunday, the team settled for a 1-1 home draw against Santos to continue at the top of the group C table on 22 points in 11 rounds. They are on three winless games in all competitions (drawing two and losing one) after their four consecutive successes. Bragantino haven’t lost any of their last 13 at home (eight victories and five draws since losing to Athletico Paranaense 2-1 in December 2020).
Meanwhile, Talleres will need to win in Sao Paulo to keep their hope alive. After their 1-1 away stalemate at Deportes Tolima last Wednesday, the team are on a single point, trailing leaders Emelec by five. On Sunday, they drew 1-1 at home against Huracan to remain occupying third spot in group B on 20 points and will advance to the quarter-finals in the event of avoiding the defeat at Lanus next Sunday. Talleres lost only one of their last ten matches in all competitions, winning five and drawing four. On away turf, they are unbeaten in the last five, having registered two victories and three stalemates.
Red Bull Bragantino coach Mauricio Barbieri is missing several important players, as is the case with Alerrandro, Helinho, Luan Candido, Raul and Jadson due to injury. Ricardo Ryller, who has been replacing Jadsom, saw a red card at Emelec and is suspended, so I think Talleres could get at least a useful draw from here.
