Talleres vs Argentinos Jrs
Talleres had their home match against Union Santa Fe in round ten postponed. Therefore, their last league game took place two weeks ago, drawing 1-1 away at San Lorenzo. Pedro Caixinha’s men are producing a poor campaign in the Liga Profesional, accumulating nine points after winning only one of their last nine matches in this competition (along with three draws and five losses). In fact, La T have been the worst team in the whole league season so far, having grabbed 20 points in 24 matches.
Argentinos Juniors’ six-match unbeaten streak of four victories and two draws in the Liga Profesional came to an end last Saturday, when the team suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 home loss to San Lorenzo after conceding in the 89th minute. However, the team continue performing well in this competition, having earned 20 points (third-placed in the league rankings) to remain occupying one of the Copa Libertadores spots in the 2022 aggregate table. On away turf, El Bicho grabbed seven points from the last nine available, winning two and drawing one since losing to Newell’s Old Boys 1-0 in round four.
Talleres lost 2-3 at Velez the 1st leg of the Copa Libertadores Quarterfinals, and with the return game at home in just a few days I can’t imagine them focused on this match in a league where they have nothing to play for.
