Defensa y Justicia returned to winning ways last Sunday, securing three massive points by beating Union Santa Fe 2-1 at home thanks to a brace from Nicolas Fernandez. El Halcon broke a four-match winless streak of three stalemates and one defeat in the Copa Liga Profesional to accumulate 16 points in group B, trailing fourth-placed Newell’s Old Boys by one so far. On away turf, Defensa are on four away matches unbeaten, having won two and drawn two.
This is simply a must win game for both as they are 4 and 2 points respectively from the playoffs zone, plus Newell’s draw on Friday opens a door for them to get closer. Racing comes from conceding 4 last week at Boca but their offensive power is still there, while Defensa has 12 goals scored but also 12 conceded this season, so I expect an open game here between two teams that must attack and know how to do it.
