Newell’s vs Godoy Cruz
Newell’s Old Boys returned to their irregularity last Saturday, when they showed a poor version and ended up losing 1-0 away at Huracan. In fact, La Lepra managed a single victory across their last ten league matches (along with four draws and five losses). Having managed 20 points in 15 rounds, they should focus on keeping their Copa Sudamericana spot in the aggregate table. Javier Sanguinetti’s men have been irregular even at their own stadium, registering two victories, four stalemates and one loss so far.
Godoy Cruz secured an important point last Sunday, when they drew against Independiente 1-1 at home after trailing first and playing with ten men for over 40 minutes. El Tomba made it three league games unbeaten (two victories and one stalemate) to accumulate 25 points in the Liga Profesional. Following this good campaign, the team continue occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table and opened a seven-point gap over the relegation zone in the respective rankings.
Have to expect goals here as in most Godoy Cruz games. They are a solid attacking team but Newell’s at home steps up and I can imagine both scoring.
