San Lorenzo vs Rosario Central
San Lorenzo showed a great display of effort to beat Racing Club (one of the best teams in the league this season) 2-1 away last Monday, with Juan Mendez and Andres Vombergar scoring. El Ciclon made it two consecutive successes in league action and, having lost only one of their last nine matches in this competition (four wins and four draws), they made it 23 points in the Liga Profesional, sitting only two points behind the last Copa Sudamericana berth in the aggregate table. Furthermore, San Lorenzo are on nine home matches unbeaten (two victories and seven draws since losing to Patronato in April).
Rosario Central showed a poor version again last Monday and ended up suffering a heartbreaking 1-0 home defeat to Banfield. Carlos Tevez’s men registered their third loss across the last five matches in the Liga Profesional, along with a single victory and one draw. As a result, El Canalla remain on 18 points in this competition and their main aim at the moment is to improve in order to stay away from potential relegation threats in 2023. On away turf, Central managed only five points from 21 on offer following one victory, two draws and four losses.
San Lorenzo finally won two games in a row, they played a very good game at Racing and they should take their streak even further against this poor Rosario Central.
