Instituto vs Platense
Instituto took a valuable point last Sunday, when they secured a 1-1 away draw at arch-rivals Talleres in an entertaining derby, with Juan Franco netting the equaliser. Even though La Gloria are performing well in the Liga Profesional, accumulating 15 points so far, they also are holding a three-match winless streak of two stalemates and one defeat that keeps them out of the continental places in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Instituto remained unbeaten in their last four home matches, winning two and drawing two.
Platense took a new step back in the context of an irregular campaign last Monday, when they lost 1-0 to Banfield at home following a poor performance. El Calamar won three and lost three of their last eight league games, along with two stalemates. The team remain on 11 points in nine Liga Profesional matches, which keeps them out of the fight for a continental tickets but also far away from the relegation spot in the aggregate table. On a positive note, Platense won their last two away games at CA Central Cordoba and Defensa y Justicia.
Platense’s defense is not what it used to be earlier in the season: they’ve conceded 6 goals in the last 5 games and they are coming from a poor performance in a defeat at home vs Banfield. Instituto at home has scored in 6 of their last 7 games, so while I think they should win here, I’ll go for the OVER in this low totals line where 2 goals seem definitely possible.
