Central Cordoba vs Defensa y Justicia
CA Central Cordoba continue to struggle. Last Monday, coach Omar De Felippe started his second spell at the club with a disappointing 1-0 away defeat at relegation contenders Deportivo Riestra. Following that result, El Ferroviario remain on a single point after nine Liga Profesional rounds. In fact, they made it 14 league games without a win, drawing four and losing ten, which keeps them bottom in the aggregate table, two points behind Tigre in the fight to stay in the top flight. Central haven’t won any of their last eight at home, with three stalemates and five losses.
Defensa y Justicia continue facing big trouble at the moment. Last weekend, the team were dominated from beginning to end and suffered a devastating 3-0 away defeat to Velez Sarsfield. As a result, El Halcon are now on ten matches without a win in league action, drawing six and losing four, which keeps them on five points in the Liga Profesional table and out of the continental spots in the aggregate rankings. In fact, Defensa took just two points from the last 15 on offer as the visiting side in domestic commitments.
I’ll give Central Cordoba a vote of confidence here, at home, with their new coach who has experience in this kind of terminal situation. They’ve been awful but so has been Defensa. They are both still winless in 10 rounds, but I’ll trust the hosts here to at least avoid a defeat and maybe start building something that could give them hope to avoid relegation.
