Estudiantes vs Independiente
Estudiantes are showing improvements again. Last time out, the team claimed a remarkable 4-1 away success at Newell’s Old Boys after trailing first and reversing the score. El Pincha are now unbeaten in their last four Liga Profesional matches (two victories and two stalemates), making it 15 points in this competition and trailing leaders Huracan by four. At home, Estudiantes haven’t lost any of their last six in domestic action, winning four and drawing two.
Independiente took a valuable point last weekend as they drew 0-0 at home against San Lorenzo after playing with ten men during over 70 minutes. However, Julio Vaccari’s men are going through a negative spell: they remain winless in the last four in league action, drawing two and losing two. As a result, El Rojo accumulated eight points in nine Liga Profesional rounds, which keeps them in a mid-table spot in the aggregate rankings. On away turf, Independiente grabbed just two points from the last 12 available. Winger Alex Luna is suspended for Sunday after seeing a red card against San Lorenzo.
Estudiantes coming from consecutive 4-1 wins are in their best form in quite some time and they should beat this very poor Independiente that will change half their starting lineup because of how bad they’ve been lately.
