San Martin de San Juan vs Godoy Cruz
San Martin SJ managed only one point from the last nine in offer following their 3-0 away defeat to Newell’s Old Boys last Monday. The side is still threatened by relegation, sitting a single point above the bottom four in the respective table. Having claimed a single win in their last seven league games (two draws, four losses), El Verdinegro managed only 19 points this term, but 13 of those arrived at home as a product of four wins, one draw and four defeats.
Godoy Cruz made it five defeats in six league matches in 2019 (along with a single win over San Martin Tucuman) last weekend when they were beaten by Velez Sarsfield 2-0 at home. Following that negative run, coach Marcelo Gomez has left the club. El Tomba remains on 26 points, sitting in 14th. Only six of those were claimed away from Mendoza as the team suffered six losses and claimed only two wins and one draw.
A derby is always hard to predict and both squads are in crisis, but Godoy Cruz has conceded goals in their last 9 games (11 in the last 5) while San Martin did it in 5 of the last 6, and one goal should definitely open up the match.
