England’s football manager Gareth Southgate has announced the national team’s 23-man line-up for the World Cup next month. He also named five footballers who will be on stand-by.

Popular names and long-time players Jack Wilshere (midfielder) and Joe Hart (goalkeeper) were not included in the list of names going to Russia. Southgate already informed them personally earlier in the week.

Because of leaks connected to the list, Southgate selected a young squad with the hopes of getting into Euro 2020 and World Cup 2022. Despite the squad being on the younger end of the spectrum, England’s manager did not include the emerging under-21s.

England’s first match is against Tunisia on June 18.

The English squad includes:

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Jack Butland (Stoke), Nick Pope (Burnley)

Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Kyle Walker (Man City), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham), Danny Rose (Tottenham), Harry Maguire (Leicester), Phil Jones (Man Utd), John Stones (Man City), Gary Cahill (Chelsea)

Midfielders: Jordan Henderson, (Liverpool), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Dele Alli (Tottenham), Jesse Lingard (Man Utd), Ashley Young (Man Utd), Fabian Delph (Man City), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea)

Forwards: Raheem Sterling (Man City), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal).
