Newell’s Old Boys had their away game at Independiente postponed two weeks ago. As a result, the team are on three points in the Superliga table having beaten Central Cordoba 2-0 at home in coach Frank Kudelka’s debut. With one game in hand, La Lepra are occupying one of the drop spots, three points from safety. Newell’s suffered a single defeat in their last five matches, having claimed three victories and one draw. At home, they claimed seven wins and three draws in their last 12 matches, losing to Talleres and Gimnasia LP.
Union Santa Fe has collected four points from six available in the Superliga following an important 2-1 home win over Defensa y Justicia thanks to goals from Walter Bou and Yeimar Gomez Andrade. As a result, Leonardo Madelon’s men succumbed to a single loss in their last ten games among the league and the Superliga Cup, winning four and drawing five. On away turf, El Tatengue is unbeaten in their last six domestic matches (two successes, four stalemates).
Newell’s looks improved this season but Union is a super solid team even on away games (they recently drew against defending champions Racing) so I think they should get something of this game.
