Banfield earned a valuable point on their visit to defending league champions Racing Club after drawing 0-0 in midweek. On a sorry note, it was their fourth consecutive game without a win (two draws, two defeats). El Taladro earned only nine points in the whole season and are just two points above the bottom three in the relegation table. In addition, they also are on four consecutive defeats at home. Banfield defensive midfielder Sergio Vittor is suspended after collecting his fifth yellow card at Racing Club.
Union Santa Fe extended their unbeaten run to five matches (three victories and two draws) following a 2-2 home stalemate with Independiente thanks to a goal from Nicolas Mazzola in stoppage time. El Tatengue are improving, but they remain occupying one of the mid-table spots with 15 points. On a positive note, Union are on two consecutive wins away from home, having beaten Aldosivi and Gimnasia LP consecutively.
Despite last round’s draw at Racing, Banfield is still a terrible team and I can’t see why Union might not get something from this game.
