Rosario Central earned their third win in the last five games in domestic competitions (along with two losses) last Monday when beating Atletico Tucuman 2-1 away. It was a promising start, but El Canalla will certainly struggle this season: they are now sharing the final relegation spot with arch-rivals Newell’s Old Boys. To make matters worse, Central are winless in their last seven national matches at their own stadium, drawing three and losing four (including the last three).
Talleres’ winger Jonathan Menendez scored the winner on his return to the club after playing for Independiente and the team started the new season with a 1-0 home win over Velez Sarsfield in coach Alexander Medina’s debut. The side from Cordoba won three of their last four competitive matches, losing only once. However, they also are on three consecutive defeats on away turf since beating Newell’s Old Boys 2-1 in early March. Talleres midfielder Juan Ramirez has been sold to San Lorenzo, Junior Arias left to join Banfield and Joel Sonora moved to Sarandi Arsenal.
I think Rosario Central has struggled enough and it’s time for them to win at home, especially now that mood is much better after they started the season with a solid away win. Talleres lost important players lately and I can’t see them being any better than last season.
