Under interim boss Martin De Leon, Patronato succumbed to a 2-0 away defeat at San Lorenzo last weekend. That result means the team are now winless in their last ten league matches (drawing three and losing seven). With only 13 points in 15 games, El Patron remains to occupy one of the drop spots (seven points from safety). At home, Patronato collected only two points from the last 12 on offer. Patronato will oversee the debut of coach Gustavo Alvarez after Mario Sciacqua’s resignation. Lautaro Comas remains sidelined, as well as his usual replacement Santiago Rosales.
Velez Sarsfield’s four-game winless run of three draws and one defeat in the Superliga came to an end last time out when the side improved greatly to beat Colon 3-1 at home. As a result, El Fortin is now on 25 points, only four behind leaders Boca Juniors and Argentinos Juniors. Velez lost their last away game at Banfield, which stopped a four-match unbeaten run of three victories and one draw on the road.
New coach for Patronato but this won’t change the fact that they are a huge relegation candidate, so I think Velez should take the win here.
