After one draw and one defeat in the league, Gimnasia LP managed a highly-celebrated 2-1 home win over Central Cordoba in a six-pointer. However, El Lobo still has a mountain to climb if they want to stay in the top flight. Having earned only 14 points so far, the team remain bottom in the relegation table. Gimnasia holds the worst home record in the league, with a single win and seven losses. Gimnasia LP signed Lucas Barrios (from Huracan), Matias Perez Garcia (Deportivo Cucuta, Colombia) and Jorge Broun (Ludogorets, Bulgaria) in a total of six arrivals while five fringe players waved goodbye.
Velez Sarsfield managed to beat Patronato 1-0 away as Lucas Janson found the winner in the first half. It was their second consecutive win in the Superliga and allowed them to approach leaders: El Fortin is now on 28 points, two below the top of the league table. Velez has been confident on away turf so far, securing 13 points in eight games. Adrian Centurion and Mauro Pitton joined Velez Sarsfield from Atletico San Luis (Mexico) and San Lorenzo respectively.
Gimnasia has no choice but to keep taking risks as draws are not good for them anymore, and they’ve added some interesting attacking players like legendary scorer Lucas Barrios, while Velez also looks potentially better in attack with Centurion, so I’m going here with the low goals line.
