Tigre produced an excellent comeback last weekend when beating Union Santa Fe 3-1 away to recover from their home slump. The 4-3 aggregate result allowed them to advance to the quarter-finals. The aforementioned defeat was the only one in El Matador’s last nine competitive games (five wins, three draws). It also stopped a six-game unbeaten run at their own stadium, during which Tigre won two and drew four.
Racing Club took advantage of the away goals rule to knock out Estudiantes in this competitions following a scoreless home draw last Saturday. The league champions haven’t suffered any defeats in regular time in their last 11 competitive matches, but seven of those ended in draws (including the last four). On away turf, they are unbeaten in the last five, winning one and drawing four. Racing Club captain Lisandro Lopez will feature on the bench after overcoming his muscle issues, while Marcelo Diaz and Leonardo Sigali will miss out injured.
Despite getting relegated Tigre has been in superb form lately while Racing, the league champions, were not at their best in the previous round and will have a couple of important defensive missings today plus their top scorer will be on the bench because he is not 100%, so I can see the hosts not losing this.
