Tigre hasn’t had any difficulties to overcome Atletico Tucuman in the Superliga Cup’s semi-finals through a 6-0 aggregate result (1-0 away last Saturday). The team, who got relegated this season, still have the chance to seek their first domestic title in history. Tigre managed four victories in their last five matches in this competition, only losing at Racing Club in the process. Tigre boss Nestor Gorosito has all his regulars at his disposal as Walter Montillo, Nestor Moiraghi, Gerardo Alcoba and Lucas Rodriguez have recovered from their respective injuries.
Lisandro Ezequiel Lopez’s strike in the second half allowed Boca Juniors to reach this final following a 1-0 home win against Argentinos Juniors in a hard-fought game last Sunday (also 1-0 on aggregate). Therefore, Boca will fight for a domestic cup title after becoming Copa Argentina champions in 2015. The team are on 12 matches unbeaten in all competitions, with six victories and six draws in regular time since losing at Athletico Paranaense in Brazil 3-0. Boca Juniors coach Gustavo Alfaro will find it tricky to pick his defensive midfielders as Ivan Marcone saw a red card last time out and Nahitan Nandez reached the yellow-card limit.
This cup final will be played in the neutral ground and it finds a super in-form Tigre against a struggling Boca that has scored only one goal in the QFs and Semifinals and will have some important missings in defence. Tigre odds are way too high and I have to go with them to at least push for a penalties shootout.
