Arsenal vs Velez
Sarandi Arsenal registered their fourth draw in a row: 1-1 at Independiente after conceding in the 95th minute. However, the newcomers have been unbeaten in their last eight league matches (three victories and five draws) and are seventh-placed on 31 points. El Viaducto also is on eight home matches without defeat in the league, winning three and drawing five.
Velez Sarsfield had their home game against Godoy Cruz postponed last weekend. Last time out, they lost at San Lorenzo 1-0, which stopped the team’s four-game unbeaten run in the league (two wins and two draws). El Fortin dropped down to nineth spot of the league table on 30 points after earning only two points in three Superliga matches in 2020. On away turf, they won only one of their last five in the league, along with two draws and two defeats. Velez Sarsfield centre back Lautaro Giannetti saw a red card at San Lorenzo and is suspended, but Luis Abram returns from his own ban to replace him. Hernan De la Fuente returns after the Pre-Olympic Tournament. On Tuesday 18, Velez lost 2-1 at Ecuador’s Aucas and advanced to the Copa Sudamericana’s round-of-32 thanks to the away goals rule.
Arsenal is a solid team and Velez should be tired after their very long midweek trip to Ecuador where they were lucky to score a last minute goal and advance, so I have to go with the hosts.
