Palestino (Chile) vs Talleres (Argentina)
Palestino managed a valuable 2-2 away draw at Talleres after trailing 2-0 at one point, thanks to goals from Cesar Cortes and Guillermo Soto. That means the team have a certain chance of advancing to the Copa Libertadores’ group stage. On Sunday, they beat Huachipato 3-1 at their own stadium to earn their first three points in two rounds. The team are on six home matches unbeaten in all competitions with five wins and one draw, but they play as hosts at Universidad Catolica in the Copa Libertadores.
Talleres’ fans will have felt disappointed after the team’s 2-2 home draw with Palestino last Wednesday as the team couldn’t hold onto a 2-0 lead (with Dayro Moreno and Juan Ramirez scoring). Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men won 1-0 away at Estudiantes with an alternative XI last Sunday to reach 27 points in the league table, sitting in 11th. Talleres are yet to lose in 2019, having claimed three victories and five draws in all competitions. On away turf, they registered one victory and three stalemates this year.
This is a clash between two similar squads which will fight for their ticket to the group stage. Palestino will be tough to beat, but I think Talleres should be able to claim a narrow success and go forward in the competition.
