Last Wednesday, Deportivo Lara put up a good fight on their visit to Cruzeiro from Brazil, but they ended up losing 2-0. Therefore, the team are bottom in Group B with a single point without even scoring. On Sunday, they drew 1-1 with Deportivo La Guaira at home, which means the side accumulated 13 points in nine games and remain sitting outside of the top eight: their main aim is to qualify for the league playoffs. Lara claimed a single victory in their last six competitive matches, drawing four and losing one, but they are on five games unbeaten at home (two victories and three straight draws).
Meanwhile, Huracan managed a scoreless draw at Emelec on March 14th. It was their first point in two Libertadores’ games in 2019 and the team are now third-placed, one point behind their last opponents. Last Friday, they lost 3-1 at Newell’s Old Boys and dropped down to the 12th spot of the Superliga table on 32 points. El Globo is on ten winless matches in all competitions, earning only three draws in that stretch. The team also are on seven games without a victory on away turf, drawing four and losing three since beating Lanus in early November.
Deportivo Lara are irregular at the moment and Huracan is potentially better, but they are going through a deep crisis and I can’t see them winning at Venezuela.
