Argentinos Juniors continue to advance in the Superliga Cup in spite of having ended up league season at the bottom spot. Last Thursday, they beat Gimnasia LP 2-1 away after a scoreless draw at home. That victory stopped a three-game winless run in all competitions (drawing two and losing one), but the side is still unbeaten in this cup, having claimed three wins and three draws so far. El Bicho hasn’t lost any of their last four home matches, winning three and drawing one.
With goalkeeper Esteban Andrada in superb form, Boca Juniors have knocked out Velez Sarsfield on penalties last Thursday after a 0-0 home draw. Therefore, the team are now on ten matches unbeaten in all competitions, having won five of them in regular time. That run includes four games on away turf, but El Xeneize managed a single victory (over Godoy Cruz 2-1) and three draws in that spell.
Boca is coming from two scoreless draws in the previous round and I expect a tight game in this 1st leg of this semifinals, with Argentinos trying to avoid conceding an away goal and Boca feeling comfortable with the draw.
