River vs Racing

River’s hangover after their big success in the Copa Libertadores seems to be over. Last weekend, they made it two consecutive wins in the Superliga by beating Velez Sarsfield (who hadn’t lost at home previously) 2-1 away. Following that win, they climbed into the seventh spot on 25 points with one league game in hand. Prior to that positive run, River had lost three consecutive home games in eight days.

Racing Club continues their way straight to the title. The team beat Huracan 3-1 at home last time out to reach eight league games without defeat (seven wins, one draw). After their fourth consecutive triumph, they remain as league leaders on 42 points (three above second-placed Defensa y Justicia). Away from home, they managed six victories in the last seven games (along with one defeat), including the last three.

Racing is the best attack of the league and River is not far behind, but they’ve been also conceding goals in all games lately. River has no choice but to go for the win or their very slim chances to get a Copa Libertadores 2020 spot will be even smaller, so I expect an open game here.
