Independiente vs Tigre

Independiente secured a valuable point after a 1-1 draw on their visit to Banfield considering Pablo Hernandez’s sending-off in the 11th minute of the game. To make matters worse, they trailed first, but Emanuel Gigliotti netted the equaliser in the second half. After three league games without defeat (one win, two draws), El Rojo reached six points in the Superliga with a match in hand. At home, Ariel Holan’s men lost to Defensa y Justicia and won over Colon.

Tigre’s task to keep their Superliga status becomes harder week after week. The team are now 12 points behind Belgrano in the relegation table after their 2-0 home defeat to Huracan last Sunday. Coach Cristian Ledesma left the club a day after the match. Tigre remains on six points, having lost the last two league games. El Matador has been irregular on away turf so far, with one win, one draw and one loss.

Independiente will rest some players due to their upcoming Copa Libertadores Quarterfinal 2nd leg at River (1st leg was 0-0) and while I don’t trust Tigre enough, I do like the chances of seeing goals here. Tigre has the worst defense of the league with 11 goals conceded in 6 rounds, but they also scored 8, same as Independiente in 5 games, so the very low totals line is worth a bet.
