Colon vs River

After a sorry start in the Superliga, Colon is slightly improving. Last time out, El Sabalero managed to beat Newell’s Old Boys 1-0 with young winger Tomas Chancalay scoring the winner in the first half. Coach Eduardo Dominguez is taking a breather as Colon earned six points in the last three rounds to make it nine in total. Besides, eight of those points were claimed at home thanks to two wins and two draws.

Having postponed their home game against Defensa y Justicia in week eight, River Plate is still unbeaten in the Superliga. The team thrashed Lanus 5-1 away in their last league encounter. After their third league win in a row, the side advanced to semi-finals in the Copa Libertadores (beating Independiente 3-1 at home) and in the Copa Argentina (winning over third-tier side Sarmiento Resistencia also 3-1). Heading back to the league, River is seventh-placed on 13 points. On their travels, they managed two victories and two draws this term.

River Plate seems unbeatable at the moment but due to their upcoming Copa Libertadores Semifinals match, they will field an alternative lineup full of reserves.
