Godoy Cruz vs River

Godoy Cruz’s boss Marcelo Gomez had a sorry debut last weekend when his men played one of their worst games this season and ended up losing 2-0 to Lanus at home. Therefore, the side wasted an opportunity to approach the Copa Libertadores spots and they remain on 23 points.

River Plate suffered their third consecutive defeat in the Superliga last Sunday when losing to Patronato 3-1 at home with an alternative XI. Having earned only three points from the last 15 available, El Millonario remains on 19 points in the league table (with one more game in hand at Rosario Central). The team have also lost their last two away games in 2018 at Colon and Estudiantes. River Plate centre back Lucas Martinez Quarta is still doubtful due to his muscle issues.

River Plate is going through a rare crisis, having lost 3 consecutive games in just one week and all of them at home (two were postponed games from last year). Their minds are still not in place after winning Copa Libertadores in December, and their defense looks shaky after losing their captain Jonathan Maidana who is now playing in Mexico. They need to go all in and this is why I expect an open game with goals.
