Belgrano vs Union Santa Fe
Belgrano’s top-flight status is at stake for the first time since being promoted in 2011 as they remain in the bottom four of the points-average table, two points from safety. Diego Osella’s men have clinched only a single point from the last 12 available and have dropped down into 24th in the league table with 12 points. Their only two victories this season have come at home though, with the other league games at Gigante de Alberdi Stadium ending in three draws and three defeats. During the summer break they’ve added a few new players, but most importantly they’ve lost their best player, midfielder Matias Suarez, who just yesterday signed with River Plate.
Union Santa Fe started 2019 in style last Wednesday when beating River Plate 2-1 away from home. Franco Fragapane and Diego Zabala scored to allow the team to stop a five-game winless run of one draw and four defeats. El Tatengue is now on 22 points in the Superliga, only one behind the last Copa Sudamericana spot. Union also won three of their last four away games, only losing to San Martin SJ in the process.
Belgrano will need to adjust to playing without Suarez, their playmaker, and Union is in a great mood after beating River a few days ago, so I expect the visitors not to lose this game.
