Atletico Tucuman vs Talleres

Last Monday, Atletico Tucuman played one of their worst games in the whole season and ended up losing 3-0 at Patronato (who are currently occupying one of the drop spots). Therefore, they have slid into the fourth spot on 31 points (with one league game in hand), but El Decano continues qualifying for the Copa Libertadores 2020, which is their main aim this season. Atletico produced a remarkable home campaign so far, with five wins, two draws and a single loss in the derby against San Martin Tucuman.

Talleres managed to end a three-game winless streak of one draw and two defeats in the Superliga last weeked, when beating Banfield 3-1 at home. As a result, the side reached 22 points in the league table, two behind Union Santa Fe occupying the last Copa Sudamericana berth. Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s men lost five matches on the road this term, with the other games ending in three wins and one draw. Last Wednesday, they won 2-0 against Brazil’s Sao Paulo at home in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores’ second round.

In spite of their recent slump, I think Atletico Tucuman should have enough to recover against Talleres, who will be focusing on their knockout stage against Brazilian giants Sao Paulo, where they have a nice 2 goals lead but they have a very tough match away midweek.
