Manchester United had signed three players to join their club and spent almost £68m this summer. However, as per Jose Mourinho, he is still planning to have “2 more players†join the team.
Among the footballers who signed was Midfielder Fred who was reported to have earned the biggest spending.
In addition, the club had been connected “with Chelsea’s Brazilian midfielder Willian, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Croatia winger Ante Rebic and Tottenham’s Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld.â€
Despite the new recruits, Jose Mourinho, had a tight-lipped when asked at a news conference whether he was confident of playing and gave one remark “I don’t answer your question.†Moreover, when inquired about the reason for his answer, the Portuguese stayed quiet.
A report made to the media in Los Angeles before Mourinho side’s pre-season friendly against AC Milan on Thursday stated that the United boss was not happy with their US tour because many of their players were not present as they were on a break following the world cup.
It was known that “the Red Devils had 12 players competing at the tournament, with eight featuring in the semi-finals. On the other hand, Tottenham also had 12 players in Russia while Manchester City had 16.â€

“I don’t have the majority of the players that are going to be in the squad on 9 August when the market [transfer window] closes and we can make it official for the season. So, of course, I’m not happy, to have just a few players,” he added.
Paul Scholes, a former United Midfielder, claimed that it would be a challenge for his old team to win their 21st top-flight crown considering its boss current mindset which Paul believes as “not in the right frame of mind.â€
“Every year when United don’t win something, it’s a disaster,” the 43-year-old, who won 11 league titles at Old Trafford, told Bein Sports.
“He’s obviously got to try to win the league, but there are so many good teams now, it’s going to be difficult.
“He doesn’t look happy to me. It’s a team that grind out results rather than really impress you and that’s probably what he’s happy with. That’s where he’s been at his best over the years.
“I think he’s got every resource available to him to have a team to win the league. That’s what the fans expect and what I’m sure his bosses above him expect.”
