Lanus produced another sorry performance last Friday and were defeated at Racing Club 3-1. The side couldn’t repeat the good impressions they left against River Plate two weeks ago, in which was their only victory in the last nine Superliga fixtures. Lanus remain on 18 points and the remaining weeks should be a transition period for them.
On Wednesday, Lanus hosted Peru’s Sporting Cristal in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana’s first round, they won 4-2 and their coach decided to rest all regulars on this game so they will use an alternative lineup.
Rosario Central made it six victories in eight matches under boss Leonardo Fernandez after beating Olimpo 5-0 at home last time out. The team produced an excellent performance and claimed three deserved points, with young midfielder Agustin Lioi netting a hat-trick.
Rosario Central are more confident than Lanus at the moment and should claim three points here.

Last week Velez got an important point on their struggle to escape from the drop spots. That 2-2 draw at Belgrano means they managed to avoid the third consecutive defeat.
Velez have accumulated 18 points in the Superliga and remain 9 points above Olimpo and Temperley in the relegation table. El Fortin lost three of their last four home matches, just beating Olimpo 3-0 in that spell.
River Plate continue to languish in the Superliga. Last time out, the team drew with Godoy Cruz 2-2 at home in a controverted match. El Millonario were 2-0 behind at one point and were able to save a point, but their league campaign is far below the expectations: River are sitting in 19th on 19 points, having claimed a single victory in their last six league games. They also are on six away defeats in a row in all competitions.
River Plate have been weak on away turf lately, and midweek they debut in Copa Libertadores so they will rest some regulars and that should give Velez the chance to get something on this game.
