Atletico Goianiense (Brazil) vs Nacional (Uruguay)
Atletico Goianiense secured a massive 1-0 away success at Nacional last Tuesday thanks to a goal from Luiz Fernando in the first half and they are now a draw away from the semi-finals. On Saturday, they also managed to beat Red Bull Bragantino 2-1 at home. In fact, O Dragao won three of their last four competitive matches. However, they continue into the relegation zone in the Brasileirao, occupying 19th spot on 20 points (two behind the last safe berth). At home, Goianiense are on two consecutive successes.
Nacional will have to win on the road in order to advance in the Copa Sudamericana following their 1-0 home defeat to Atletico Goianiense last week. Last Friday, El Bolso beat Rentistas 3-0 at home to stop a two-match losing streak in all competition and grab their first three points in the Uruguayan Torneo Clausura. Furthermore, Pablo Repetto’s men hold onto the first spot in the 2022 aggregate table. Nacional lost their last away game (2-1 to Deportivo Maldonado) after an unbeaten streak of four victories and one draw on away turf.
Nacional was very unlucky to lose last week and I definitely think they should be able to turn around this series and advance.
