Corinthians vs Boca
Corinthians took their first three points in the 2022 Copa Libertadores by beating Deportivo Cali 1-0 at home two weeks ago (all teams in group E are level). Last Saturday, the team succumbed to a huge blow, losing 3-0 away at Palmeiras in the city derby, which also stopped their four-match unbeaten streak of three victories and one draw in all competitions. O Timao are third-placed in the Brazilian league table with six points in three games, trailing leaders Santos and Atletico Mineiro by one. At home, Corinthians are on seven matches without defeat, having won six and drawn one in regular time.
Boca Juniors also managed their first three points in matchweek two by beating Always Ready (from Bolivia) 2-0 at home. Last Saturday, the team also won 2-1 at CA Central Cordoba and took a big step towards the league playoffs: with 21 points, El Xeneize hold a five-point gap over fifth-placed Colon with only two games to go in group B. Sebastian Battaglia’s men are on five matches unbeaten in all competition, winning two and drawing three. On a positive note, Boca have been confident on away turf lately, losing only one of the last eight (with four successes and three stalemates).
Boca-s defense has been too unreliable lately and Corinthians comes from conceding 3 in the city derby, so I expect to see goals here.
