Talleres vs Newell’s
Talleres were unlucky to lose 1-0 away at Independiente last Friday after wasting several goalscoring chances in the second half. That result broke their two-match winning streak in league action and Pedro Caixinha’s men remain on three points in two rounds in the Liga Profesional, still far away from the continental spots in the 2022 aggregate table. At home, Talleres won their last three domestic games, having beaten River Plate and Sarmiento (twice) without even conceding.
Newell’s Old Boys fans will have felt sorry following the team’s scoreless home draw against San Lorenzo after dominating the whole game. However, the team made it four points from six on offer in the Liga Profesional. Despite having won only one of their last five league matches (two stalemates and two defeats), La Lepra continue occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. Newell’s won 2-1 at Banfield in their last away game to break a three-match winless streak of one draw and two losses on the road.
Newell’s won’t have three very important players like central defender Lema, experienced midfielder Pablo Perez and striker Juan Garro, so I think this improved Talleres should win here.
