Argentine Primera Division: Talleres – Platense Odds for June 14, 2024

Talleres – Platense

Talleres are flying high at the moment. Last time out, the team showed an enjoyable performance to beat bottom-placed CA Central Cordoba 4-2 away. Thanks to that victory, La T are still one of the Liga Profesional leaders on ten points after four rounds (alongside Racing Club, Huracan and Union Santa Fe). In fact, Walter Ribonetto’s men made it 12 league matches unbeaten (winning six and drawing six) to remain occupying one of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table. At home, Talleres have been without defeat in the last seven in domestic action (five wins and two draws). Last week, they beat second-tier side Colon 1-0 in the Copa Argentina second round. Ramon Sosa, Miguel Navarro and Matias Catalan are now with their national squads (Paraguay, Venezuela and Chile) ahead of the Copa America. Marcos Portillo succumbed to a muscle problem and will miss out. Ulises Ortegoza and Gustavo Bou remain sidelined.

Platense secured their first Liga Profesional victory in matchday 4, when they showed an interesting version to beat Boca Juniors 1-0 at home thanks to a strike from Mateo Pellegrino in the second half. After two draws and one defeat, El Calamar made it five points in this competition to remain safe from relegation threats. In fact, Platense succumbed to a single defeat across their last five away matches, winning two and drawing two in that time. Last Saturday, the side lost on penalties following a scoreless stalemate against Huracan in the Copa Argentina second round. Left back Sasha Marcich returns from suspension on Friday. On the other hand, striker Mateo Pellegrino succumbed to an ankle injury and will miss this game.

Talleres can become the only leaders with a win, but they have a lot of missings today due to injuries and Copa America, especially in attack where they won’t have some of their best players like Sosa, Portillo and Bou. Platense can be a tough team and they won’t also have their best striker, Mateo Pellegrini, so I’ll go for the UNDER here expecting a tight game.
