Boca – Velez
Boca Juniors are going through a little slump. Last time out, the team showed a terrible version and succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 away defeat to Platense. That result means El Xeneize earned only four points in as many Liga Profesional matches this term as a product of a single victory, one draw and two defeats. This campaign prevent them from approaching the Copa Libertadores places in the aggregate table so far. On a positive note, Boca have been unbeaten in their last 11 domestic matches as the hosting side, winning seven and drawing four. Captain Marcos Rojo is suspended for Friday after seeing a red card at Platense. Edinson Cavani is expected to return while Luis Advincula is now with Peru’s national squad.
Velez Sarsfield showed a poor performance in their last game, drawing 1-1 against relegation candidates Atletico Tucuman at home after trailing first. The last league runners-up are now producing an irregular campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional, having taken five points in four matches so far as a product of a single victory, two stalemates and one loss. However, El Fortin remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana berths in the aggregate rankings. Velez took only one point from six on offer on away turf, losing to Gimnasia LP and drawing to Independiente so far.
Boca are playing terribly lately, they won’t have two important players in defense like Rojo and Advincula, so even if Velez has been irregular so far in this tournament I’m going to trust them to avoid a defeat.
