San Lorenzo vs Estudiantes
Striker Andres Vombergar scored in his debut at San Lorenzo to give his team a necessary 1-0 away success at Argentinos Juniors last weekend. Therefore, El Ciclon made it five league matches without defeat, winning two and drawing three, to accumulate 16 points in the Liga Profesional. Following this improved campaign, Ruben Insua’s men approached the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table, sitting four points behind the last berth. At home, San Lorenzo are on seven matches unbeaten (even though they won only one of those and drew the other six).
Estudiantes continue to find trouble in the league. Last weekend, the team showed a poor version and ended up drawing 0-0 against Banfield at home in an uneventful match. In fact, El Pincha won only one of their last eight Liga Profesional matches, drawing two and losing five in that spell. Accumulating 12 points in this competition, they remain out of the Copa Libertadores spots in the aggregate table, which is their main aim this season. Furthermore, Ricardo Zielinski lost their last four away games in domestic action since beating Aldosivi 1-0 in round two. On Thursday 4, Estudiantes will visit Athletico Paranaense in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals. Thinking of Sunday, Mauro Boselli and Fabian Noguera remain sidelined. Anyway, coach Ricardo Zielinski would field a rotated XI.
With Estudiantes using some reserves due to their Copa Libertadores matches and San Lorenzo gaining confidence, I can see a home win here.
