Racing vs Union
Racing Club wasted the chance of becoming Liga Profesional leaders last Wednesday, when they showed a terrible version and ended up losing 1-0 away at relegation candidates Sarmiento. Having suffered two defeats in their last three league games (along with a single victory), La Academia remain on 13 points, trailing table toppers Huracan by two. However, it’s still enough to hold onto their Copa Libertadores spot in the aggregate table. Racing are unbeaten in their last five domestic matches at Estadio Presidente Peron, winning four and drawing one.
Union Santa Fe continue going through a promising moment of form. Last Sunday, El Tatengue secured a valuable point on their visit to Estudiantes, drawing 0-0 at the defending champions. El Tatengue made it 14 points in six Liga Profesional matches (one in hand after postponing their home game against Rosario Central in midweek) and seven unbeaten in league action (five wins and two draws), trailing leaders Huracan by one and holding onto one of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table. In fact, Union remain unbeaten in their last five as the visiting side, having won two and drawn three in that time.
Despite their defeat at Sarmiento after a poor performance, Racing is still one of the best teams in the league and especially today that they might have playmaker Juanfer Quintero back after he rested the first two games due to playing in Copa America. Their attacking power will be at full strength with him but Union is a good team that can hurt them as well so I’ll go for the OVER because I expect an open game.
