Estudiantes vs Gimnasia
Estudiantes are finding it tough to show their best usual performance. On Wednesday, the team played a poor match and registered a scoreless away stalemate at Huracan in an uneventful match. The defending champions are now on five league matches without a win, drawing three and losing two in that spell, accumulating nine points in seven Liga Profesional rounds so far. On a positive note, El Pincha are unbeaten in their last five home matches in domestic action, with three victories and two draws since losing to Platense 2-1 in March.
Gimnasia LP come to the city derby off another disappointing performance last Tuesday, when they ended up losing to San Lorenzo 1-0 at home. El Lobo made it three defeats across their last four Liga Profesional matches, along with a single victory in that spell. Therefore, Marcelo Mendez’s men remain on ten points in seven rounds, far away from the continental spots in the aggregate table. To make matters worse, Gimnasia are on eight without a win as the visiting side, drawing one and losing seven.
Big La Plata derby, probably the most important game for both of them in the whole tournament and it finds them in a very poor moment: Estudiantes comes from consecutive scoreless draws and Gimnasia from consecutive 0-1 defeats what means that neither could score a goal since the Copa America break so since this is a game they don’t want to lose, I expect it to be a hard fought match with few chances.
