Racing vs Newell’s

Racing Club ran out of chances of winning the losers’ stage in the Copa Liga Profesional last weekend, when they settled for a 2-2 away draw at CA Central Cordoba. Having earned five points in the Fase Complementacion’s group B, the team are now trailing leaders by four with only one game to go after winning only one of their last five matches in this competition (two draws and two defeats).

Newell’s Old Boys wasted a big opportunity to secure the first spot in the Fase Complementacion’s group B last time out, when they lost to Velez Sarsfield 1-0 at home. Therefore, both teams are now level at the top of this group on nine points and will decide the winner this weekend (Newell’s hold a better goal difference for now).

Newell’s are tied at the top of the group with Velez after their defeat last week so they need to win here to make sure they end 1st in case Velez also wins, and Racing plays for nothing but they’ve been scoring a lot lately (9 in their last 3 games and also conceded in all of them) so I expect goals here.
