Racing Club vs Barracas Central
Racing Club seem to be overcoming the toughest moment of the season. Last Saturday, the team celebrated a hard-fought 2-1 home success over Velez Sarsfield through goals from Gabriel Hauche and Gonzalo Piovi to make it four league games unbeaten, winning two and drawing two in that time. As a result, Fernando Gago’s men are now on 26 points in league action, trailing the last Copa Libertadores spot (which is their main aim for the remainder of the season) by nine. Racing also are on two victories in a row at Estadio Presidente Peron in this competition. Matias Rojas and Gabriel Arias are available after their respective international duties.
Barracas Central had to settle for a scoreless home draw against Rosario Central in an uneventful match in round 20. That result means El Guapo succumbed to a single defeat across their last seven games in Liga Profesional action, along with two victories and four stalemates in that time. Following that streak, El Guapo made it 23 points this term, holding a five-point gap over the relegation spot in the league table. On a sorry note, Barracas have been winless in their last eight away games, drawing four and losing four in that spell.
Racing are playing well below the expectations, but they’ve been strong at home against weaker teams so I expect them to get the 3 points against this Barracas that is a totally different team when they don’t play at their stadium.
